The industry applications of titanium tube

Application areas: Heat exchange equipment, such as shell and tube heat exchangers, coil heat exchangers, serpentine tube heat exchangers, condensers, evaporators, and conveying pipelines, etc. Many nuclear power industries use titanium pipes as the standard pipes for their units.

Features: Titanium pipes are light in weight, high in strength, and have superior mechanical properties. They are widely used in heat exchange equipment, such as shell and tube heat exchangers, coil heat exchangers, serpentine tube heat exchangers, condensers, evaporators, and conveying pipelines, etc. Many nuclear power industries use titanium pipes as the standard pipes for their units.

1.Titanium pipes have plasticity. The elongation of high-purity titanium pipes can reach 50-60%, and the sectional contraction rate can reach 70-80%. Although the strength of high-purity titanium pipes is low, the addition of a small amount of impurities and alloying elements significantly strengthens their mechanical properties, making their strength comparable to high-strength materials. This means that in industrial pure titanium pipes, as long as there are a small amount of interstitial impurities and other metal impurities, they can have both high strength and appropriate plasticity.

2. The specific strength (strength-to-weight ratio) of industrial pure titanium pipes is very high among structural materials. Its strength is comparable to that of steel, but its weight is only 57% of steel.

3. Titanium pipes have strong heat resistance and can maintain good strength and stability even in an atmosphere of 500°C.

4. Titanium pipes also have excellent low-temperature performance. Even at ultra-low temperatures of -250°C, they still have high impact strength and can withstand high pressure and vibration.

5. They have strong corrosion resistance because of their high affinity for oxygen, which can form a dense oxide film on the surface to protect titanium from corrosion by the medium. Therefore, titanium has good stability in acidic, alkaline, neutral saltwater solutions, and oxidative media, better corrosion resistance than existing stainless steel and other non-ferrous metals.
